Are you very active and experiencing lower back pain?

🚨 Pars Defect

➡️ Typically occurring in young adults and adolescents, a pars defect or spondylolysis is classified as a stress fracture occurring mainly in the lower lumbar spine.

➡️ It tends to arise in the young population especially in those that play lots of sports.

🚨 Common causes:

➡️ Playing high impact or repetitive sports, for example weight lifting, bowling in cricket, athletics, rugby and tennis. Such activities can cause repetitive stress on the vertebrae which can lead to a fracture.

➡️ Genetics: Being born with a thin pars area can pre-dispose or increase the risk for a pars defect injury.

🚨 Common symptoms:

➡️ May begin pain free

➡️ Gradually feel dull low back pain on both sides of the spine

➡️ Worst during and after exercise

➡️ Improved with rest

➡️ General back stiffness and muscle tension
