Are your knees giving you grief?
Have you been told you have Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS)?
💥Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS)💥
➡️ What is it?
This is one of the most common knee conditions we see in the clinic.
It is an umbrella term used to describe pain arising in and/or around the patella (also known as the kneecap).
While is can be due to trauma to the kneecap, it is more often non-traumatic in nature, and worse with activities such as squatting, running, jumping, kneeling, and going up/downstairs.
The cause of PFPS is often a combination of several factors such as overuse and overload of the patellofemoral joint, anatomical or biomechanical abnormalities and/or muscular weakness/imbalance/dysfunction.
✅ Can physio fix PFPS?
We sure can! Treatment includes advice regarding pain management and addressing factors causing the pain. This may include soft tissue massage, taping and a strengthening and stretching exercise program.
