Do you suffer from shin splints?
π¨ Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS): Shin splints
β‘οΈ Shin splints is a common condition particularly in runners especially when the training load is suddenly increased.
β‘οΈ It often occurs when the muscles, tendons and bone tissue in the leg become overworked.
β‘οΈ The main symptom is pain in the leg that occurs both during and after exercise.
β‘οΈ Common causes include a sudden increase or change in physical activity (intensity, duration, frequency). Other factors may include improper or poor footwear and certain feet anatomical variants eg flat feet.
π‘Itβs important to note that a thorough examination should be conducted in order to distinguish between tibial stress syndrome and tibial stress fracture.
β A physiotherapist can help educate and advice you on your condition.
β We can help set you up with an appropriate rehab and exercise program to get you back to doing your activities and achieving your goals.
