How to present injuries when returning to the gym?
🚨 Many of our exercise habits and routines have changed significantly during the COVID-19 lockdown.
⁉️ Last time gyms re-opened we saw an influx of gym related injuries, as most people tended to jump straight back in where they left off … a guaranteed recipe for injury!
⬇️ See below, Physio Hub’s top tips to return safely to the gym and get the most out of your gym sessions.
✅ Rest 48 hours between sessions.
✅ Drop your weights to 50% of what you were doing pre lock down. Aim to increase 10-15% per week.
✅ Gauge your number of reps by intensity level, rather than numbers.
✅ Make sure you warm up beforehand – a short walk/cycle and/or practise lifts with a lighter weight.
✅ Sleep and eat well.
